Star Anise Essential Oil is often confused with Anise or Aniseed Oil. They are similar in aroma, but do not have the same properties. Star Anise Oil has the strong scent of black licorice and is a decongestant often used in diffusers and inhaler blends that are intended to ease bronchitis, colds and flu.  It also has great mood balancing qualities. It is antiseptic, anti-rheumatic and anti-spasmodic. It may be helpful in blends that ease muscular aches and pains as well as aiding digestion.
SAFETY PRECAUTIONS: Precautions abound for those with hypersensitive skin or skin problems. It is contraindicated in pregnant, or breastfeeding women as well as women with endometriosis and estrogen dependent cancers. A dermal maximum of 1.75% is recommended as it has been indicated to inhibit blood clotting. It is not recommended for children under the age of 5. As with any Essential Oil, the advice of a Medical Doctor is highly recommended before any use, and all medical conditions should be taken under consideration.
