Ancient Greeks gave marjoram to newlywed couples to assure good fortune. It has a long history of use for its deep relaxation and stress relieving properties. Diffused, not only does it promote relaxation and a healthy nervous system, it has also been used for asthma, cough, cold bronchitis and sinus infection due to its antiseptic and antiviral qualities.  Some have found that it also provides headache relief, including migraines. In lotions and massage oils it relaxes stiff muscles and relieves pains and has even been used to treat joint pain, sprains and strains with its analgesic properties.  It promotes circulatory health, and may reduce the appearance of varicose veins and bruising. It has immune supporting qualities that combined with the antiseptic properties make for good use in toners and soaps treating skin ailments such as acne.
