Patchouli is used widely in the perfume industry for its warm and sexy scent which some believe is an aphrodisiac.  It has been used diffused in meditation and emotional balance, combating anxiety and depression. It has antiseptic, antimicrobial, and antiviral that combined with the camphor effect make for a great decongestant. In skincare, it is also widely used in acne and eczema treatments. It reduces the appearance of imperfections such as cellulite and fine lines and wrinkles. It has even been used to reduce or prevent scarring. Patchouli is a natural insect repellent, and works well on bug bites. In a 2005 study in Phytotherapy Research, it was proven that Patchouli repels bed bugs, and is used in sachets between mattresses or spray mists.
